In statement sum we are given a statement. We have to analyse the statement and then take appropriate action.
Following steps are required to solve the statement
1. Read the statement carefully
2. Find the values that are given
3. Find the quantity which is required
4. Then perform the process to reach the desired result.
Let us consider the following example;
Naresh has 11 apples and his mother gave him 8 apples more. How many apples he has altogether?
1. We will first analyse the statement
2. We will find the values that are given
In the question it is given that
Naresh has 11 apples and his mother gave him 8 apples more
So, No. of apples Naresh had = 11
No. of apples given by his mother = 8
3. We will find the quantity which is required
In the question it is asked that
How many apples he has altogether?
To Find No.of apples he has altogether.
We will perform addition as we are supposed to find the no. of apples he has altogether.
11 + 8 = ?
We will perform the required operation
On solving we get
Hence Naresh has 19 apples altogether.
